Recruitment and Selection process in human resource management (Hindi)

Basic

Recruitment and selection are essential for achieving organizational goals and fulfilling human resource requirements.

Recruitment involves advertising job vacancies through different sources like newspapers, websites, or job portals, encouraging candidates to apply. Candidates fill out application forms, which marks the first step of recruitment.

The next step is the selection process, beginning with application form reviews followed by written tests and interviews. Qualified candidates undergo medical examinations before final placement. Recruitment focuses on attracting the maximum number of candidates, making it a positive process. Selection, on the other hand, involves choosing the best candidates, typically seen as a negative process since many applicants are rejected.

Recruitment sources are divided into internal and external. Internal sources include transfers, promotions, recalling retired employees, or considering dependents of deceased employees. External sources include advertisements, educational institutions, placement agencies, and employment exchanges.

Organizations also use social recruitment like employee referrals and job fairs. Several factors influence recruitment, such as supply and demand of labor, unemployment rates, company reputation, competition, and political and social environment. The internal factors include product nature, organization's reputation, recruitment costs, and job types. Selection begins after attracting enough applications, eliminating unqualified applicants through screenings, and conducting tests and interviews. Successful candidates often undergo reference checks and medical examinations before final hiring decisions. The selection process is considered negative due to its exclusionary nature. It ensures that only the best candidates are hired, keeping recruitment costs low by minimizing turnover. The selection aims to select suitable candidates, verify applicant capabilities, place candidates in appropriate roles, and generate information about each candidate, ensuring cost-effectiveness.>
