Succession Planning Strategy for NGOs by Allianz Care

Basic

Succession planning for CSOs is a strategic and tactical measure to help sustainability and retention of Institutional Knowledge. Sustainable development involves retention of people, knowledge and processes to build a strong organization from within. This involves understanding the leadership pipeline and creating a pipeline for the roles and responsibilities at every level of the organization, under every program, until the last level of structure. This is a very critical thought process, based upon which leadership development interventions can be planned. The questions we are often faced with are where and how to start this process. As an organization, its growth and expansion heavily relies on key leadership roles and the chain of talent down the line. Identifying, developing and retaining high value staff is key to eliminate underlying risks associated with lack of foresight into upcoming leadership gaps in the pipeline. Strong organizations have strong leaders and very strong teams that can augment the efforts on the ground.
