Power of good questions

Basic

In the YouTube video "The Power of Good Questions," Tom Adams stresses the significance of thoughtful questions over answers in various domains, including relationships and work. He cites renowned thinkers like Einstein, Drucker, Socrates, Voltaire, and Rackham, who all underscored the importance of questioning. Adams then introduces six types of questions that can add value to situations and relationships: situation questions (what's happening?), clarification questions (why did you say that?), assumption probing questions (what could we assume instead?), reason probing questions (what would be an example of that?), and viewpoint questions (how do they see the situation?). These questions can help deepen understanding and bring value to relationships or businesses by exploring different perspectives and uncovering implications and consequences. Examples include "what's another way of looking at this?" or "what kind of viewpoint are you coming from?" in sales, or "how does not purchasing this software affect your future results?" or "how does not dealing with your kid in this situation affect what happens in their life?" in family situations. Adams encourages the audience to adopt a questioner mindset.
